This has a similar plot as the humorous poem from "If You Like to Laugh, Volume Four", but I've simplified the language and have changed "The Dog Who Cried 'Woof'" to a prose story. It is suitable for pre-teen readers and for parents searching for a clever story to read to young children. I've tried to move the plot very quickly (what parent wants a long bedtime story?) and I've inserted some repetitions so that young listeners do not lose any of the story line. There is a surprise ending in the last few lines that I believe young listeners will greatly enjoy.
